The lanyard was a nightmare - I went through countless room keys because I happened to hold it in the same hand as my mobile or camera. When I went to the on-board shop to get one they were SOLD OUT (on the 1st morning)! The tendered ports were better than the non-tendered ports in that you actually arrived in the centre of the town. In the non-tendered ports it was a 30 - 45 min drive to where the action was! From your post I might try a cruise from the US, but not going on one in South East Asia any time soon.
